Our guiding principle is,
'Form follows function. Form determines pathotype.'
The microarchitecture of each organ has evolved to optimise its specific function.
However, this unique structure also makes each organ susceptible to particular diseases.
Thus, better understanding of the tissue's microarchitecture is essential to uncovering the pathophysiology of these diseases.
We leverage advanced biological imaging and single-cell transcriptomics to deliver critical new insights into why joints are responsive to various systemic pathologies, how communications between synovial cells and nociceptor neurons influence disease progression, or what mechanisms underlie immune-driven pain in the joints.
We are a multidisciplinary research team studying the joint immunity.

I (Tetsuo) measure success by the well-being and curiosity of the lab members, and believe that the discoveries will naturally follow.
